So Thursday morning my lil brother decided to turn off the fans on my CPU case ( have side pannels which control the fan speeds). I get home from school play bf3 the tf2 then homework then tf2 then more homework. Now it's night time and I was Gona join sewers game. As soon as I launch bf3 my monitors says going to sleep mode. Fk I instantly knew its a gpu problem. I can hear gun shots and shit but when I turn on my monitor it doesn't find signal (VGA dvi or hdmi) and I know it's pluged in correctly. Did I kill my gpu? I have a zodiac gtx 670. Also how do I at least use the VGA built into my mobo so I can at least do my home work. Don't ignore I need you guys!!!!

unlikely. The GPU should have remained cool enough even without the side fans as it wasn't under any load as it has it's own active cooling system.

to use the built in VGA you'll likely need to enable it in your BIOS settings. if it is already enabled and plugging into it doesn't work you'll need to remove the GFX card.

Download 3DMark and Furmark to stress test your GFX Card. If it runs those then it's not a problem with the GFX card and you'll want to run some other diagnostics like memtest and Drive Fitness Test to rule out RAM and HDD.

Ok my Zotac GTX 670 did die as i took it too my friend to test it at his rig. So that is the second nvidia card that dies on me in a 4 month time period. I'm thinking of buying the HD 7950, because its relatively cheap and can run all the games i have at the moment. What do you guys think? Is that a good card or shall i look at another one.

It's a good card, I have the generation before that and it runs BF3 very well. However, nvidia cards really are superior... which manufacturer were you going with before?

I have had exceptional experiences with EVGA (nvidia) XFX (radeon) and Sapphire (Radeon).

I've never had a problem with EVGA either if you want to stick with nvidia. If you go AMD/ATi i'd go for XFX since they have a double lifetime warranty on their cards and they work quite well

@Deady I have had 2 Zotac GTX 670 cards. My first one came defected. The fan wouldnt work... So i RMA'd it and got the second one which now is fried... I was looking at the HD 7950, but the 7970 caught my eye. Although i still want to get another 670 as i feel its my fault my current 670 broke, but this time ill pick up an EVGA 670. I was planning on SLi my 670 during december, but now thats not an option.

Basically Its either

XFX Radeon 7970

or

EVGA GTX 670

Their both similar priced GPU's, but the recent driver from AMD has made their GPU's 10%-15% more efficient than their respected nvidia counterparts.

Zotac are POS cards. And those are overall benchmarks. see how the cards stack up in BF3 benchmarks
