BF4 ?? Any reviews from you ?

Post by Whitefeather » Fri Oct 11, 2013 11:49 pm

Well guys? Anyone playing the Beta, have a review or opinion of the game?
I have only heard that you need a LOT of memory to get it to play well (8 gig or more)
and some cant even get it to load up. :hmm:

White,

First off, that sucks that you can't get into the Beta. I've played both the Alpha and the Beta and I like what they've done with the game. Where to start...Game play, is as expected and not far off of BF3 with some good improvements. The animations are good, the game is rendered beautifully, levolution is quite amazing and not all of it has been added to the Beta. Don't get me wrong though, what is in there is pretty damn good. It is normal mode where you spend half a clip to take out a guy (I hate normal mode) but, that aside the weapon rendering and mechanics are spot on. Squad play again is the focus, work together and reap the rewards, everything from increased ammo, add'l armor (flak jacket) to extra grenades. These are only achieved by following orders and taking objectives as a squad. One new addition to BF4 is the peak/lean, and it is very well implemented. Basically, if you take cover behind something, you can peak/lean from behind cover while maintaining reduced exposure. Multi-leveled game play, everything is accessible, you truly have to check your corners, high and low, as the enemy can be anywhere. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that the buildings have tunnels, store fronts, furniture, etc., all destructible. Hell, in some ares, you can make a new path through walls. Run blindly and you'll be re-spawning shortly. Gun physics, bullet drop, etc. all seem to be spot on. You can also zero your sniper rifle, very cool. The kits themselves are varied and with a lot of options, you basically play your way. There is a ton of customization, again quite cool. Want =ST6= on the side of your tank, it'll be there. Suppression, nerfed in a good way. I used to hate (in BF3) when I would be hitting a guy and get no kill or even hit markers because I was being suppressed making my bullets totally ineffective. In BF4, suppression returns, but is primarily from support class only, but you can still hit your target if you shoot accurately, you still get the blurriness, etc, but at least if you're throwing rounds down range you can still score a kill. Sound is spot on as usually, I can actually distinguish the different weapons, but they've always rendered the sounds accurately. There are quite a few things I've missed and I apologize for jumping around, but the game is good. Increase that memory and make sure you're ready for this...it's going to be kick ass! See you gentlemen on the Battlefield!

Respectfully,

Sgt.Rock

I almost forgot...knifing is well done, counter knife works, but only on a frontal or side attack. There is NO guarantee that your counter will be successful, spam that knife button and 90% of the time you'll come out on top. I can't believe I almost forgot that!

Just to see if my old system would run it, I loaded it up on my 7year old Quad Core 2.3ghz, 8 gig, with GTX 460. It loads up just fine but even on low settings it's taxing the CPU @ 80% and Mem at 50% +/-. Even though I was mostly cannon fodder to the other players, I played a few maps just to see what it was like and and does seem to have some nice improvements. The lean feature is welcomed! At the end of each kill it shows the person that shot you - not sure if that is option that can be turned on/off. I like that you get a live feed of where you can spawn in to see if it is hot or not.

I just read a post that AMD users will have a slight advantage because the consoles use AMD graphics and the game was built around that although Nvidia has some enhancements to help even the playing field.

I'll have to get the game on a newer PC before I have a final verdict, but so far so good! :wink1:
